About Us

The National Minority Technology Council is the primary source for market research on minority technology companies in the US. The Council serves as a single point of contact for both policy and procurement issues. Our goal is to daily advocate and facilitate new initiatives that create and expand business opportunities for our members.

    The National Minority Technology Council is organized and shall be operated exclusively as a business league or trade association within the meaning of Section 501(c)(6) of the Code of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and its regulations as they now exist or as they may hereafter be amended, for purposes that include, but are not limited to, the following:

    (i) To market, manage and promote a membership and trade association for the minority technology industry throughout the United States and abroad, including but not limited to all sectors of the technology industry, as well as service providers, universities, foreign embassies, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies;

    (ii) To advance and promote the existence of the great number of Minority Technology Companies located across the US doing business in the US and globally;

    (iii) To bring Members into personal and friendly relations with each other and to collaborate between companies and interchange ideas on technical, operational, marketing, and policy matters;

    (iv) To attempt to influence legislation germane to the common business interests of our members.

    (v) To provide a referral service for its Members, as well as numerous networking and educational events for its Members during each year;

    (vi) To conduct public relations and education programs to enhance and improve the public image of minority owned technology related businesses.

    (vii) To increase awareness of the existence of related technology business opportunities and access to capital among the minority community and further matters relating to, but not limited to, Universal Broadband Access and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Reform;

    (viii) To ratify the standardization of the minority certification process by promoting a public/private “universal/de facto” certification standard, enabling one stop certification, reducing or eliminating the burdensome need for multiple local, state, federal or large corporate minority certification;

    (ix) To present information, trade statistics, and group opinions of the minority technology industry to government agencies and bureaus.

    (x) To exercise all other corporate powers in furtherance of the above objectives not prohibited by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The corporation shall have all powers and authorities now or hereafter conferred upon non-stock, not-for-profit corporations organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia; provided, however, that no part of the net earnings of the corporation shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to its officers, directors, or other private persons, except that the corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth above.
